2021 March

This month we finally finished the construction in the front bedroom. All pipes and boxes of junk now tucked tidily away. There’s still a bit of touch-up painting to complete, and some shelves and boxes to upgrade, but they can wait, as spring is here and it’s time to get out into the garden.

First a bit of spring cleaning. The damp winter had resulted in a lot of green algae and moss. Patio, paths and trailer are now gleaming

Then a bit of border cleaning. Weeding and turning over the open areas in the flower beds now that the soil is starting to dry out a bit.

Getting the dahlias out of winter storage, another sign that spring must be coming soon.

And some spring tree surgery. Reducing some of the larger willows, and clearing the dyke side of the orchard (The lane side is still wild…) And then of course at the end of the month another tree decided to take itself down during some strong winds. As it’s fortunately not blocking the road it can wait there until we have time to get to it.

At last we’re getting some work done in the back garden. We hired a turf cutter (A bit of a beast!) and started lifting turf where I want the first borders to go.

Also starting to work on the pond. The initial hole dug for me by the builders hasn’t magically turned itself into a haven for wildlife, so I’d better do something about it.

And finally some signs of spring:

And some other bits and pieces from a busy month:
