2021 – July

The month started with some glorious weather, so we awarded ourselves a holiday, and spent the hottest days on the beach. Even the wildlife was getting in on the act with cinnabar moth caterpillars joining me on the deckchair.

But it’s not all fun and games, there’s still work to be done!

In other news…

This is the regular warning that non-gardeners can stop reading here. It’s all plants and produce from this point on.

I didn’t take many pictures of the veg beds this month, mostly because the flowers were looking more appealing on that side of the garden.

It’s definitely the best month of the year for soft fruit, the strawberries overlap with the raspberries and hybrid berries, and the later crops of apples and grapes are showing their potential.

A bit of sunshine encouraged some colour into the back garden. The framework borders are beginnig to look a bit less like weedy mud. The annual chrysanthemum labelled Rainbow Hippy Love Child, is from Higgledy Garden seeds, where he does confess he made the name up as it suited the flower better than it’s official title. I think I agree.

But again this month the winner has to be the mini meadows!
