Looking back at December’s photos, it appears that we didn’t do much of anything that wasn’t Christmas related. This was probably a subconscious response to having Christmas cancelled last year. One exception was finishing the planting of the yew circle in the back garden. Now we’ve just got to wait a few years for it to grow.
We spend a lot of time and money feeding the birds, and occasionaly get a treat such as the woodpecker visiting. The squirrel believes that all of this effort is for his benefit. We coould have tried replacing all of the feeders with squirrel proof ones in an attempt to stop him emptying them. Or we could be softies, and buy him a fancy feeder of his very own. Guess which option we took… To be fair it is fun to watch him lift the lid and help himself from his own little store cupboard. On the other hand it hasn’t stopped him pinching the bird’s food, or my flower bulbs.
Now on to the Christmas preparations. Apparently wreath making workshops are a ‘thing’. So Helen and I did a DIY version with garden materials (except for the ribbbons – I haven’t worked out how to grow them yet)
And we made sure to be seasonal in other ways too.
The house was dressed and ready.
And our special guest for Christmas this year was Prince. The old boy came down for his very first trip to the seaside. I think he liked it.
And finally – Merry Christmas everyone*
- That is – I hope you had a merry Christmas, because I’m behind as usual and typing this in February…
