Visitors, and holiday activities kept us busy for most of this month. And the weather was mostly kind, in fact it’s beginning to be very dry in the garden. Fine for me, but some of the new planting is looking a little sad.
It’s not all fun and games though. We did get some work done – tidying trees, and cutting the wild growth in the orchard, as well as getting logs delivered ready for winter (Winter? hard to think about in the sun)
The apples are all looking like they’ll have a good year. ‘Beauty of Bath’ catches me by surprise every year, dropping a lot of apples before I expect them to be ripe. Still Prince doesn’t mind windfalls
Harvest time here. Unfortunately the outdoor tomatoes caught blight (As did the potatoes hence the early harvest) but the polytunnel crop more than made up for them
Flower beds could do with a bit of water and a tidy up, but i’m happy with this years showing especially the new beds which are only a few month’s old.
… and the meadow just keeps going. A few of the spare garden seeds have now come in to flower, and the sweet peas have been very impressive considering that they are usually cossetted, these have been totally self suffficient.
And finally a few wildlife shots. The rabbit moved in to the back garden for about six weeks this summer. Nice to see him, and even nicer that he moved on before I had to get concerned about next years crops.
