2020 – June

A mostly sunny month, although there was finally some much needed rain. We were also graced with a visit from Helen (Social bubble!) after far too long. A trip to Louth, and the beach, and some delayed Birthday presents.

The wildlife in the garden is generally behaving itself. We managed to spot one of the newts, they usually lurk out of sight. The robins decided my sieve was a great base for another nest, and Andrew and Helen are busy persuading yet another bird that the chimney is not a good place to roost. At least this one didn’t make it all the way down, and have to be released via the kitchen stove. We’ve had quite a few down there this year.

In other news, a lockdown bike show, and Andy’s entry for a global lockdown modelling competition. Update: It came third! well done!!

The ducks, George and Mildred, are still around. They come and quack at the door if we aren’t around to feed them. They are still not bothered at all by Chester.

Out in the garden things are really starting to get colourful. All that seed sowing and weeding and watering paying off at last.

The orchard is looking very green and welcoming on the hot days. The centre of it is being kept clear and accessible. The outer edges and the paths in are still a bit wild and woolly, but quite photogenic.

Plenty of produce coming in now from the veg garden, and the promise of more to come. Time to start jam making and freezing…

Individual flower portraits to remind me of what is looking good t this time of year.

Chester celebrated his 19th birthday this month. Apparently it isn’t 7 cat years for each human year any more which would make him 136!, but a more graduated scale, which still makes him 92. No wonder he’s lost his marbles…. He keeps trying to sleep in the blazing sun and getting too hot, but then a personal assistant will turn up and provide him with shade.

And a sunset to finish June.
