End of September 2018

So, I missed a week, and to be honest, weekly updates were probably getting a bit tedious. So here’s a round up of the last couple of weeks of September.

The car park was full again 🙂

The neighbours on the caravan site cleared the Confer hedge trimmings that had been in the Dyke since we bought the property. The then decided to burn these right at the end of their land, on the other side of the dyke to the workshop and goat shelter. Unfortunately this flared up and set fire to the goat shed. They were able to attract our attention, and we were able to put it out, just in time, as the straw was going up like tinder. Fortunately before the store or the workshop caught light.

The orchard was full of windfalls after recent heavy winds. so these were gathered, and the unused ones, unfortunately many, were composted. A new bin (bag) had to be started

A couple of small friends. The mouse decided that the bird seed was for him, and I’ve been disturbing disgruntled toads every time I dig anywhere.

Outside, more cladding was put on the side of the barn. The back of the house was cleared of weeds, so we can see the bottom of the house for the first time! Overwintering onions have been started in modules and put on the swinging shelf in the polytunnel, waiting for me to clear some ground for them. And finally, the pumpkins and squash patch is looking very productive.

Not pictured (Shame on me!) the blocked doorway in the kitchen has now been beautifully finished and plastered(Thanks Dad!). I’ll try and remember to add a picture later.
