2019 – June

Major works started this month. New conservatory to be added on the corner of the house. Unfortunately it meant losing a lot of the Jasmine climbing up the side of the house, but a fair bit has survived, and I’ve taken cuttings for insurance purposes. The ground work and wall building was interrupted by a week of heavy rain, although fortunately we weren’t flooded out like some in the county. The frame and glass should be complete next month.

While all of this chaos was going on outside, the inside of the house was also upside down. A new boiler, and extra radiators, and changes to the system to make sure it integrates with the solar hot water and log burner meant chaos and boxes and floors up everywhere. And the kitchen was also re-plumbed ready for the door into the conservatory.

It was also someone’s birthday at the start of this month 🙂 We celebrated with a trip to the seaside and dinner at the King’s Head

In the veg garden things are moving on. Everything growing fast after the week of rain, but the sun came out at the end of the month and the first crops are coming in. Flowers also starting to brighten the place up and provide a nice contrast to the building works.

And the usual round up of odd pictures:

  • A trip to Gunby Hall to escape the builders
  • Swans and cygnets opposite the gate
  • Lizard lurking in a plant trough
  • Sunbathing cats and people
